Rev. Shanon Sterringer


Rev. Shanon Sterringer, PhD, is the pastor of The Community of St. Hildegard in Fairport Harbor, OH.  She was ordained to the diaconate in Cleveland, OH, on July 10, 2019 and to the priesthood in Linz, Austria on August 3, 2019.  The ordaining bishops for Shanon's priestly ordination included Mary Eileen Collingwood, ARCWP and Christine Mayr-Lumetzberger, RCWP (founder of the Danube Seven).  Shanon lives with her family in Fairport Harbor, a small village on the shore of Lake Erie. 

          Shanon's passion is in the work of St. Hildegard of Bingen, a twelfth-century German mystic. She founded and operates the Hildegard Haus and the Community of St. Hildegard.  In addition, Shanon is a commissioned member of the Federation of Christian Ministries, an Associate Professor of Christian Ministry and Philosophy at St. Hildegard’s Seminary for the American Apostolic Old Catholic Church, and owner of a fair-trade store and blog, The Green Shepherdess.

          Prior to ordination, Shanon completed a PhD in Ethical and Creative Leadership (2016) at Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, OH; a DMin (2012), MDiv equivalent, and a MA in Theology (2007) at St. Mary's Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in the Diocese of Cleveland; MA in Ministry (2011) at Ursuline College, OH; and a BA in Religious Studies at Cleveland State University, OH.  She served for two decades as a Parish Pastoral Associate and a Director of Religious Education.
